I am an Australian trained Naturopath that now bases myself in London. I grew up with a passion and connection with the Australian Bush, and with a healthy respect for the plants that had been used for centuries by Aboriginals for medicinal and spiritual purposes. My dream as a child was always to be a doctor, to be able to help and connect with people, to make them feel whole and well again.
After my life experiences, I realised that in the process of healing, human compassion and connection is an integral part of the process, and that Allopathic medicine no longer has enough time to be able to offer those constantly. I studied Naturopathy at the Australian College of Natural Medicine as a way of learning about myself, and how I best could make an impact in the medical community, through integration of empirical techniques with Western medical approaches.
To support my ability to connect with people, I studied Reiki and body awareness therapy with the most amazing mentor Madeleine Sewell who taught me more about myself as a person and how to hold a safe therapeutic space. She showed me how to use dance movement, safe touch and energetic work to provide a safe space for people to unfold, and her expertise lies with the use of safe touch with people that have suffered from trauma and eating disorders. I am now trained as a Reiki Master and a fledgling body awareness therapist myself, but I am still apprenticed to Madeleine with glee and she will forever be my amazing friend and mentor.
I use many tools in my practice, but my major love is herbal medicine. I love the ability to blend a herbal mix especially for my clients needs, and to be able to offer a safe but effective alternative to pharmaceutical medicines. My passion for herbs grew with many mentors, but none better than Mother Nature herself.
My interests in naturopathy also fuel my belief in treating the mind, body and spirit simultaneously. I have to thank Carol Gibney here for her no-nonsense approach to life, spirituality and connection. She constantly makes me challenge and remodel my beliefs, morals and ethics. I have to thank her for many sleepless nights as we would discuss and resolve the matters of the universe in her diplomatic, humorous and interested style, only to wake the next morning finding that we had a lot of work to do in the community for it to happen.
My journey with naturopathy and psychotherapy is still unfolding, and I am constantly adding further tools to my toolbox as to enhance myself as a person and a practitioner. I am currently studying Integrative-Mindbody-Therapy (IMT) and body psychotherapy, with wonderful individuals that again have added more depth to my life and my work. My aim is to offer integrative therapy to support people in a connected, meaningful and supportive way.
As well as my private practice I also lecture for the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) UK. My students constantly teach me so much more about my self and my practice as I teach them the tools of the trade. I love their humour, warmth and thirst for knowledge, which reflects my own. May they always push me to keep deepening my love of naturopathy and my knowledge of the subject.
I hope that my passion for natural health and connection can continue to unfold, and I have to thank my clients for continually inspiring me with their bravery and healing, and for proving again and again to me all that I believe.
